she would be resigning from Congress. |
Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was one of 20 Democratic members of Congress, who was targeted by Sarah Palin in a 2010 fundraising ad. Giffords, a conservative republican from the Tucson area, was re-elected anyway. But, on January 8, 2010, she was shot by one or more assassins. A suspect named Jared Lee Loughner was apprehended at the scene.
