I only recently discovered that my old friend, the actress and
author Catherine Lloyd
Burns,
is also the star of an amusing series of Tampax commercials.
She
plays the lovely and feisty Mother Nature who
waylays younger women at
the most awkward times and places to deliver a "monthly gift."
However,
these women turn out to be using the new Tampax
Pearl
tampons, which do not require "back up." I am a man, and I
mostly
only watch TV shows which have guy-type commercials on them, so I
only
recently learned about these commercials.
I really like these commercials, for some reason: Cathy looks great
in her little green
outfits and I love how they make menstruation seem like a
normal— almost desirable— part of life. (I wonder if
menstruation
is why women live longer than men, but I digress...)
My exwife talked about her periods a lot and she was fond of sending
me to the local CVS to buy her monthly
accessories. She was however, a Stay-Free

with Wings woman.
