John W. McBush's "Celeb" Campaign Ad

One of the sillier televison spots of the 2008 Presidential campaign was John W. McBush's.— I mean John McCain's— "Celeb" video". This spot, which was released on August 1, 2008, tried to equate Barack Obama ("the biggest celebrity in the world") with Paris Hilton & Britney Spears. The implication is that neither is Ready to Lead. The ad also makes the point that Obama is against drilling for oil. (That point sadly is not true, since Obama does favor more drilling for oil.)
Ironically, Britney is a Republican. Paris appears to be a Democrat, judging by her few political utterances. The Hilton family as a whole, however are Republicans— or they were Republicans until now. Paris's mom Kathy Hilton roundly condemned McCain in the Huffington Post, although Paris laughed it off by making her own video where she announced her own candidacy and outlined her own energy plan, which was not a bad plan at all.
