Note from NH State Rep.
Timothy Horrigan: George Lambert and I both served on the
Petitions & Redress Committee in 2011 and 2012, and we both would
have liked to serve again in 2013. I was
theoretically in line to be the Chair in 2013 after my
party (the Democratic party) won a majority in the 2012 election. I
was the only Democratic member of the committee who
was re-elected (aside from someone who never ever
showed up, not even once.) On December 20, 2012, the House Rules
Committee voted along party lines to abolish our
committee. Rep. Lambert and myself were two of many citizens who
were unable to testify at the Rules Committee meeting where that
vote was taken. Aside from abolishing our committee and another
committee, the draft rules
for the 2013-2014 biennium controversially ban guns in the
House chamber.
