Mr. Horrigan has decided to write this page in the first person.
I was born in South Bend, Indiana on October 3, 1956, and grew up (if that is the right expression to use) in Indiana, Chicago, England, and (mostly) New Hampshire. I was educated at the Northfield Mount Hermon School, Columbia University, and the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.
In 1988, I worked for the Dukakis for President Committee, and I still am disappointed that we lost to the first George Bush, even though the second George Bush turned out to be much worse than his father. I have spent most of my career working in information technology, most notably for the Army Corps of Engineers Cold Regions Laboratory, Geographic Data Technology, and Navision. Recently, I was an educational assessment test scorer for Measured Progress.
My novel "The Forgotten Liars" (Xlibris, 2004) is just one of my published works.
I am also looking for a new job. Writing is a job, but I need a quote-unquote "real" job as well. Even when I am not actively looking for a job, I am always amenable to learning about new career possibilities, if only to reassure myself that my current job is better than the alternatives...
In addition to my "real" job and my other work, I began serving in December 2008, as a Democratic State Representative from Strafford County District 7. I would be one of six members serving the towns of Durham, Lee and Madbury. I resigned shortly before the end of my first term, but I am on the 2010 ballot and if elected I will gladly serve a second term.
I live in Durham, NH, near the UNH campus. I am currently catless for the first time since 1994.
I am also single.
